New Cabinet Ministers : Today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and 72 ministers formed a new government. Among them, 30 are Cabinet Ministers, five have independent charge, and 36 are Ministers of State. The specific roles for each minister will be announced later.

This marks Modi’s third term, often called Modi 3.0, following his landslide victory in the 2014 elections, which ended the ten-year rule of the United Progressive Alliance (UPA). He joins Jawaharlal Nehru as the only Prime Ministers to secure three consecutive terms.

The oath-taking ceremony took place at Rashtrapati Bhavan amidst scorching temperatures of up to 42 degrees Celsius. President Droupadi Murmu administered the oath to PM Modi, followed by key leaders like Rajnath Singh, Amit Shah, and Nitin Gadkari.

Significantly, leaders from various regions and backgrounds took oath, including HD Kumaraswamy from Janata Dal (Secular), representing BJP’s allies, and Sarbananda Sonowal from the northeast. Virendra Kumar, a prominent Scheduled Castes leader, was also inducted.

The event witnessed enthusiastic support from supporters as their leaders took the oath. Notable inclusions were Jyotiraditya Scindia, whose return to the Union cabinet highlights his growing influence, and Hardeep Singh Puri, known for his diplomatic acumen.

Chirag Paswan’s proved himself as successful political successor to his father, Ram Vilas Paswan, in Bihar’s political landscape. The presence of leaders from neighboring countries like Sri Lanka, Maldives, and Bangladesh underlines India’s regional importance.
